The KUBS Startup Station, which will be the core platform for KUBS startup education, is scheduled to be completed. The station will be divided into two sections: “Iljin Startup Incubation Center” and “Seung Myung Ho Entrepreneurship Education Center.” KUBS introduces the KUBS Startup Station, a platform that connects students, alumni, and companies.

As entering the KUBS Startup Station, located on the second floor of the KUBS Main Building, students will be greeted with a space for solo entrepreneurs and a café. Anyone interested in becoming an entrepreneur or starting solo business can visit and share ideas freely in these areas. They can obtain practical information related to startup business as well. A multimedia facility and data center will be installed in the middle of the space, thereby students can access to books and video, and come up with ideas.

The area is filled with practical startup information, such as startup education and job opening, and enables prospective entrepreneurs to start their own business. Moreover, the KUBS Startup Station plans to hold various events, including special lecture that discovers and nurtures talented business leaders, and presentation allowing students to share ideas. Events will take place at the Solo Entrepreneur Zone and Café.

Seung Myung Ho Entrepreneurship Education Center

The Seung Myung Ho Entrepreneurship Education Center will be established on the left side of the KUBS Startup Station. The center has a systematic education in which students can cultivate entrepreneurship. The Seung Myung Ho Entrepreneurship Education Center is built with a 1.5 billion donation by Dongwha Group, and it is named after Alumnus Seung Myung Ho (Trade, ’74) who is president of Dongwha Group.

Startup education consists of a variety of special lectures and meetings. “The Startup Lecture Series” will be held regularly conducted by alumni and CEOs who are engaged in industry. These special lectures will provide the opportunities for students aspiring to start a business, to receive mentoring services and insightful advice from experts.In addition to that, “Future Entrepreneur,” a curriculum that includes a certification system, will be operated. From first-year to fourth-year students can take courses related to entrepreneurship and innovation based on the curriculum. Above all, students are eligible to participate in courses that requires to cooperate with various organizations, such as industry, nonprofit corporation, and venture capitalist, and  also solicit advice from professionals.

Startup curriculum offered by KUBS will be expended. For instance, a course titled “New Venture Creation and Management,” which collaborates with companies, will be divided into two sections. Students can acquire academic knowledge and have an opportunity to implement their business plan.

Iljin Startup Incubation Center

The Iljin Startup Incubation Center will be located on the right side of the KUBS Startup Station. The center aims to build a startup platform and is open to both current students and graduates.

The Iljin Startup Incubation Center, which will act as an accelerator, is an office space for business incubation where students’ startup ideas turn into business reality. Students are able to start their business in the center that is divided into eight cells, and receive practical support by KUBS.

The Iljin Startup Incubation Center has three different themes: △Innovation, △Sharing, and △Collaboration. Students wishing to develop startup business will move into the center as a ”solo entrepreneur” or “startup team.” The move-in teams will be selected through “Startup Express.” The Startup Express is a startup competition, hosted and supervised by the KUBS Startup Station and the Iljin Startup Incubation Center, respectively. A total of four teams will be selected based on their business idea abstract and presentation. The winning teams have a benefit of moving into the center and receive support they need.

While staying in the center, participants can develop their startup business by receiving continued support and advice from mentors consisting of entrepreneurs, industrial experts, etc. After a certain period of time, the teams must participate in the Demo Day Presentation in which the evaluation committee determines whether to continue their business or not. The teams can receive consulting services as well.
