Taling, one of the move-in teams from Iljin Center for Startup Incubation, won the Excellence Award in the crowdfunding sector of the “YES! Seoul Startup Competition,” which was jointly organized by Small and Medium Business Administration and Seoul Creative Economy Innovation Center. The event, held on November 23 at 2:00 PM at EL Tower in Seoul, was designed to enhance communication among local startup companies in Seoul and to promote investments and globalization.
In the “YES! Seoul Startup Competition,” a total of 19 startups competed for the △two Grand Prizes and △two Excellence Awards, and 23,000,000 won prize. Approximately 600 persons participated in the event, including startup companies, university students, teenagers, prospective entrepreneurs, companies desiring to expand abroad, ventures, etc.
“I had my own weight training session to tutor my college juniors,” said CEO Yoonhwan Kim. “As I shared my fitness talent to others, I thought other subjects and talents were applicable as well, and that was the start of Taling.”
Despite the low level of service quality at the beginning, Taling has successfully established a new culture of “Talent Matching” at Korea University by connecting more than 100 matches. Based on these experiences, the young entrepreneurs believed that their business idea is feasible and began the full-scale startup business. Taling was in the spotlight among startup businesses by accomplishing fruitful results of 3 billion won turnover in one year and a half after its launch.
Taling won the Excellence Award in recognition of △surpassing Wadiz’s crowdfunding goal by 200% and △Excellence business performance and service completion.
“Thanks to all tutors and tutees who have used Taling service, we had a valuable opportunity and received great reviews,” CEO Kim said. “Taling will continue to develop better services and always grow further.”
Meanwhile, Taling has been showing continued growth of over 30% per month by attracting a wide range of clients from university students to workers. Recently, it has successfully received investments from Good Angels, an angel club formed by experts from diverse fields.
