Woot & D&I PARVIS at KUBS Startup Institute Attended ‘Grow with GS x KITA Startup Gathering’

(Tue), two teams at KUBS Startup Institute, Woot & D&I PARVIS attended ‘Grow with GS x KITA Startup Gathering (GWG)’ held at COEX, Grand Ballroom. GWG is a venture networking program that is designed for major corporations and startup teams to share their tips and thoughts on business success, for a potential synergy between them. GWC is co-hosted by GS Home Shopping and KITA (Korea International Trade Association), which provides a range of learning opportunities such as case studies. Commenced in September 2015, the event is held every quarter.

‘Woot’ is one of the teams at KUBS Startup Institute, which provides micro-community service for single-person households. The social network service set a community block consists of around 3,000 single-person households so that they can access and share useful information for everyday living. The service is designed to resolve the problems of single-person households, to encourage communication between them and to form functional areas of business.

‘D&I PARVIS’ was also a resident team at KUBS Startup Institute, which is a leading technology research report service business based on big data and machine learning. In particular, the service assists patent application procedures which were often considered as a barrier to making the application. The service aims at an easier access to the patent application by offering the most updated AI service to its users.

startup teams ‘Woot’. Dean Kwon said, “I am proud of what KUBS Startup Institute has achieved within two years since its establishment. The institute now represents entrepreneurship and innovation, as can be seen from its remarkable performance.” In addition, Dean Kwon encouraged the participants that hopefully their success will bring further improvement of other teams at the Startup Institute so that one day the School will be capable of holding the event on campus at LG-POSCO Building. Director Hicheon Kim also commented that “It is such an honor for the KUBS startup teams to attend such big event. The two teams’ progress will inspire other teams at the startup institute.”
CEO of Woot Junehye Park (Business ’11) said, “It is a great honor to be a part of the event, getting to meet and actually speak with managers at GS Group and venture capital firms. I am hopeful that this event will be a great start of launching a Woot mobile application.”
CEO of D&I PARVIS Sang-Joon Park (Mechanical Engineering ‘14) also said, “I had priceless feedbacks from clients today. Based on the comments I received today I will be able to improve my team’s beta testing.”

Established in September 2016, Korea University Business School’s Startup Institute provides a range of education sessions, which is designed to achieve ‘a platform of entrepreneurship and innovation’. The institute offers various programs for future entrepreneurs to share their thoughts. The entry to Startup Institute is open via startup competition ‘Startup Express’ held every quarter. Since its establishment, the institute had a total of 38 startup teams.
